It’s even more intriguing when the innovation is locally manufactured and globally distributed; but never originally intended for the retail market. This is the story behind the creation of Asteeza.
Jorge Astorquiza, a local and well respected chemist for over 45 years was suddenly confronted with an unexpected family health issue. His son in-law; Randy a sports enthusiast suffered a life altering foot injury that would keep him from enjoying an active lifestyle that included coaching his daughters. The pain caused by the condition left him with a decision no one wants to make, discontinue doing the things he loved; or become a statistic among those addicted to harmful pain killers.
Astorquiza sprang into action and relied on his experience as a chemist and passion for nature inspired remedies to embark on a global investigation in search of an alternative option. The exhaustive study would span five continents and include centuries of closely guarded medicinal plant secrets.
The result was a precise formula that combined highly coveted herbs with modern technology unique to anything ever developed.
After the first application of the topical ointment, Randy felt relief from the pain that had plagued him for so long. The distinctive combination was unlike anything on the market. It didn’t irritate his skin, emit an unpleasant odor nor produce irritable hot or cold sensations. Friends soon found out about the discovery and the family began to share it with those suffering from joint discomfort, muscle soreness and overall body aches.
It quickly became apparent that there were many others eager for a natural, non-addictive alternative.
Due to the outpouring of requests, Astorquiza began to manufacture, package and distribute the ointment to be sold at Walgreens, local independent pharmacies, national distributors and abroad. Asteeza even caught the attention of USF’s prestigious school of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation as well as its School of Pharmacy where it is currently featured as a cutting edge product in their new state-of-the-art pharmacy.
Alexis Morgado, Astorquiza’s granddaughter says “Asteeza was a Godsend that helped my dad and it’s our duty to share it with others, especially those in our local community who have supported its development”.
