Alakai Defense Systems - PRIEDS Version 3

Alakai Defense Systems, Inc., headquartered in Tampa Bay Florida, has invented, developed, manufactured, and deployed world-record setting sensor systems to protect deployed soldiers and first responders from bombs and other threats.

They specifically specialize in laser-based remote sensing systems for the detection of bombs, IEDs, truck bombs, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD), narcotics, and numerous other hazardous materials at long-range for the defense and security space.

OUR STORY

Alakai’s motto since founding in 2004, is “We were Soldiers, our children are Soldiers, our Mission is to protect the Soldier.” The current incarnation of Alakai was established in Florida in 2006 by Ed Dottery, a West Point graduate and Army officer who commanded in the Infantry and Special Forces before returning to the West Point physics faculty, after an applied physics degree from Stanford University.

Mr. Dottery has made it his lifelong mission to serve and protect soldiers through next generation sensor development. These sensors detect bombs and other threats farther, faster, and safer than the current state of the art.

Alakai’s first true product was for fixed sites or vehicle mounted– the Check Point Explosive Detection System (CPEDS), which can detect threats at football field distances and as of this writing has been deployed by the US Army for over two years, and other organizations are following suit. The CPEDS is an extreme standoff range system for Entry Point Security such as a port, military installation, or any other use that requires an extremely long-range detection.

A man-portable variant, PRIED, for Portable Raman Improvised Explosive Detector was then developed by Alakai for the US Special Operations Command. PRIED is contained in a backpack with a hand-held wand design to quickly detect various hazards such as explosives, narcotics, and chemical warfare agents. Alakai’s PRIED was cited by SPIE (International Society for Optics and Photonics) in 2016 as one of the top 3 most innovative optical sensor in the world in a Silicon Valley ceremony.

3SI Security Systems – A Standout in the Loss Prevention Industry

A STANDOUT IN THE LOSS PREVENTION INDUSTRY, 3SI DEVELOPS INNOVATIVE SECURITY SOLUTIONS THAT CONTINUE TO REVOLUTIONIZE ASSET RECOVERY WORLDWIDE.

While the Philadelphia area has become a recent hotbed of start-up activity, there are some mavericks that have been here for decades, developing world-class products and amassing top-notch clientele.

A staple on the Philadelphia mainline since 1971, 3SI is on a mission to create a safer world with innovative technologies that redefine asset recovery and criminal apprehension.

The company began as one of the first providers of Smoke and Dye Technology for cash protection. Through consistent innovation, over more than four decades, the firm has developed advanced solutions in a wide range of designs that include GPS tracking, cash tracing, and safety system technologies.

Servicing primarily the Financial, Retail and Law Enforcement Markets, 3SI’s commitment to research and development is disrupting the industry. Today, the company provides a broad range of high-tech security solutions. The recent acquisition of 3SI by LLR Partners, a Philadelphia-based private equity firm, will enable the company to further increase its North American market share.

“When most people hear the word “security”, one of the first things they think of is alarm systems. However, traditional alarm systems have a failure rate above 70%, meaning that most of the time, the system is generating a false alarm and is wrong. Our trackers are just the opposite with an above 70% success rate. The challenge is that LP professionals don’t typically think of GPS Tracking as a security solution, so they have no idea they can get such great results at a surprisingly reasonable cost. With such strong performance statistics, depth of experience, strategic clarity, and proven ability to drive innovation, we have remarkable opportunities to grow.” – Todd Leggett, CEO of 3SI

A key differentiator for 3SI is its partnership with more than 7,500 law enforcement agencies throughout North America, a relationship that has transformed how police respond to crime.

The company’s ability to quickly reconfigure its product offering based on the changing targets of crime in its core markets has delivered increasingly discreet, tech-based products that secure cash and high-value assets and help police apprehend criminals.

Philadelphia’s entrepreneurial growth spurt means big things for the organization, as local industries like Healthcare, Retail and Financial Services begin to embrace innovative tech solutions that change how they approach operations and security.

International Screening Solutions – Solutions for Managing Global Risk

INTERNATIONAL SCREENING DEVELOPS SOLUTIONS FOR MANAGING GLOBAL RISK

HOW GOOD IS YOUR ROLODEX?

International Screening Solutions world map

For decades in business, the measure of networking prowess was defined by the content of a spinning wheel of index cards. Could you imagine relying on a Rolodex of business cards and pencil scratches to manage your relationships today? Hardly. Now imagine a global risk business tool relying on manual updates to track millions of known terrorists, human traffickers, and money launderers.

Fortunately, the team at International Screening Solutions imagined a different solution. While the market was focused on watchlists created regionally, maintained manually, and updated sporadically, ISS co-founders Chuck Papageorgiou and Eric Beach envisioned an automated global risk information exchange (GRIX) that could locate, aggregate, curate, and deliver risk data directly from the source.

“As more countries and agencies identified money laundering, human trafficking, and terror financing, the manually-updated tools couldn’t keep pace with all the new information being shared,” said Papageorgiou. “The old tools were okay when the blacklist alerts streamed from a handful of sources, but today it is more like a river of risk data. When a money launder is sanctioned in one location, they will often resurface somewhere else.”

Businesses everywhere need “know your customer” (KYC) and anti-money laundering (AML) programs to protect against the growing global risk. According to the Financial Action Task Force, human trafficking alone generates $150 billion annually in black market revenue. From a recent FATF report:

“Money laundering is inextricably linked to the underlying criminal activity that generated it. Laundering enables criminal activity to continue.”

International Screening Solutions World Watch Plus FinCEN

Supported by customers including the world’s largest payroll and background screening companies, ISS developed GRIX to locate, aggregate, curate, and deliver information drawn from the “river of risk data” each day. ISS created a selective search engine to access validated information about individuals and businesses restricted from commercial activity because of their criminal activity. Algorithms dissected adverse information from structured and unstructured data, then indexed everything to accommodate customer-specific searches.

Delivery came in the form of WorldWatch Plus® – a customer-designed platform with case management, reporting, and custom filtering, available in a SaaS portal or integration with existing customer systems. Launched in 2015, utilization doubled each of the last three years, and ISS was named a Top 10 KYC Solution Provider by Banking CIO Outlook for 2017, and an Inc. 5000 entry for both 2016 and 2017.

ISS continues to build on four pillars of differentiation: casting a wider net, timely and relevant results, unmatched partnering and customer service, and a customer-friendly economic model. With customers on-boarding from around the world, the Rolodex at ISS is doing just fine.

OMNA Maritime Tourniquets

OMNA: The toughest tourniquets for any condition. The worlds only Maritime Tourniquets and Tourniquet Water Sports Leashes designed to be used in and out of the water. Providing unparalleled versatility, comfort, and ruggedness in a compact, wearable configurations for water sports and marine professions. Whether you surf, dive, fish, boat, or live near the water OMNA has an innovative tourniquet or first aid solution for you.

OMNA - equipment for first aid

OUR STORY

OMNA Inc. was founded in 2014, but its inception began in late 2012. A surf trip to a remote surf break was the catalyst that led to identifying that water sports and marine environments needed marine specific first aid equipment. After an evening surf session in distant Central America, and facing a paddle across a river mouth known for crocodiles in pitch-black darkness the idea wheels began to spin. Luckily, nothing happened that night (Although someone did lose a leg to a crocodile in the same location 6-months later). What did happen then was the realization that no one had any tourniquets or equipment for first aid. Tourniquets and first aid kits are commonly carried or readily available in numerous professions, except for water sports and maritime occupations. No one had ever thought to integrate an actual tourniquet with a surfboard or paddleboard leash, nor had they made any tourniquets or first aid kits to actual marine specifications. At that moment OMNA was born and the journey began.

OMNA - Maritime Tourniquets and Tourniquet Water Sports Leashes

The unique things about OMNA are our tourniquet / first aid integrations into common water sports accessories. We’ve integrated tourniquets into wearable configurations for boating, kayaking, free diving, scuba diving, leashes for surfing, paddle boarding, and even underwater photography.

OMNA tourniquets are the only tourniquets made to 100% marine specification and designed specifically for marine environments. Our proprietary marine materials offer the highest resistance to saltwater, UV rays, and other aquatic factors that deteriorate other tourniquets. Furthermore, military and different surf life-saving tests have shown that when it comes to tourniquet use in the water the older style windlass bars that you twist are impossible to apply in the water, hence why OMNA uses a ratcheting system. Water sports and Marine Professions present a unique challenge for first aid; what works on land doesn’t necessarily work in the water, but now OMNA first aid solutions keep you prepared even in the water.

Be Ready, OMNA.

GLOBAL SAFETY MANAGEMENT (GSM)

Global Safety Management (GSM) is a SaaS-based compliance company that is fundamentally changing the way companies handle chemical and product safety information.

GSM is a leader in providing solutions for safety data sheet (SDS) authoring, management and translation services. With over a decade of experience helping manufacturers, distributors and end users stay compliant, GSM takes over the burden of safety data sheet regulatory compliance so our clients can focus on their core business.

Using GSM’s patent-pending software system, manufacturers and distributors can create the mandatory product SDSs for their customers in minutes, not hours. GSM’s technology makes it possible to do what no one else can; create a GHS compliant SDS in less than 15 minutes without chemical or regulatory expertise and at a fraction of the cost. When compared to the hours or days competing systems take, it is easy to understand why industry leaders are calling GSM disruptive.
